Designing Together: how collaboration shapes zamani
As zamani grew, so did our vision. We started with designs we knew intimately, but we wanted to expand beyond our own roots. The only way to do that respectfully was to work hand-in-hand with designers from those heritages.
This approach lets us honor each culture’s unique style, insights, and stories, while sharing the creative process with the people who know it best.
One of our first collaborations was the Karigari Collection. Working with an Indian designer brought fresh perspective and authenticity to the project. We talked about colors, motifs, and patterns that have deep cultural meaning, then translated those into a wearable modern design that fits seamlessly alongside the rest of our collection.
We then reached out to our network and extended community to share ideas, test early concepts, and listen closely to feedback. Hearing directly from the people who would wear these bands helped us understand what resonated, what felt authentic, and what needed more thought. That feedback shaped not only the look and feel of the bands, but also the way we approach every collaboration.
These partnerships are about more than creating new products. They’re about building trust, learning from each other, and ensuring every band feels true to its heritage while remaining accessible to a wide audience.
Collaborating with designers is now central to how we grow zamani. We want to ensure every band tells a genuine story, created with care and respect.
And this is just the beginning. We have more heritage collaborations coming, each one adding a new voice and chapter to the zamani story.
