Inspired by Home: The Ceramic Band

Colorful traditional Turkish pottery and ceramics, handcrafted with intricate floral and geometric patterns.

Over the years, we’ve collected so many hand-painted bowls, mugs, and plates that they’ve quietly taken over our shelves. There’s something so familiar about them. You’ll find the same ceramic plates in our homes, our parents’ home, grandparents’ home, even at friends’ homes. They always come out during gatherings, when tables are covered with the sets, and no matter where we see them, they always feel like home.

Designing the band gave me the chance to redraw it by hand, and in the process, I felt connected to the artisans in Palestine who’ve been painting these designs for generations. It gave me a glimpse into their patience, creativity, and rhythm.

Every line and color was adjusted until it felt like the ceramics that fill our home. When I look at the final band, it reminds me of that same joy that comes from something made with love and care. Here’s a glimpse into how much thought goes into every zamani design.
